Luka Antonio : : Two Years Old

I have always liked photography -even when I was a kid I would set up my camera on a tripod and try to take 1998 style selfies. But I never had much inspiration….until this guy was born.
I can’t believe he’s already turning two. I’ll blink and it will be 22‚Ķ..and he will still be living at home because he’ll never leave me. (just kidding, I’m kicking that kid out on graduation day)

Ruby Tru : : Newborn Lifestyle

Funny story.

In high school I played on the worship team at church with this guy named Jonathan. We weren’t super close but we usually got along because he put up with me the most out of his two other brothers. (I was kind of obnoxious in high school) Anyway, he later started going to another church and we didn’t really keep in touch other than just having mutual friends.

That is, until I married his cousin. Now he’s stuck with me! haha, jokes on you Jonathan!

A few years ago he found his soul mate, Abbey. I’m serious. These two are ridiculous how perfect they are for each other. They just had their second baby, a little girl named Ruby Tru. I was so happy to take her newborn pictures recently and, you guys, this family is like perfection.

Sophia Rose : : One Year Old!

Sweet Sophia is the daughter of my good friends Elizabeth and George. ¬†I have known them since I was in high school (they were not in high school, as they are much, much, much older than I am – hahah ūüėČ ), but as time went on, I got married, we ended up having kids the same age, and we are now in a family bible study/fellowship group together. They have always been so kind and generous to us. ¬†I could tell you a ton of stories, but this one stands out most in my memory.

Memorial Day Weekend 2015 in Houston was one for the record books. Friday night it started to rain, something that is very normal for a late May night, but little did most people know¬†this particular storm would wreck havoc across the city. If you don’t know, Houston is “famous” for their bayous, which are basically manmade concrete rivers that run throughout the city to provide drainage and prevent flooding in vulnerable parts of the city.¬†George and Elizabeth live about 4 blocks from a major one: Braes Bayou.
On Friday night of Memorial Day Weekend, a small but heavy cell of rain parked itself over the Braes Bayou. Before anyone could believe it or evacuate, it overflowed. ¬†By 2am, my friend’s house was flooded with 3¬†ft of bayou water. They were stuck, with her parents and their 9 month old daughter, in the house for hours waiting for the water to recede so someone could come¬†rescue them. Practically everything they owned was destroyed. The icing on the cake is that they had just moved in and renovated the house less than a year before the storm. 80% of their stuff was brand-new (and not the cheap stuff either).
The point of this story is, would you believe after all that, when my husband and I spent just a couple of hours to help them organize and label all the destruction in their house,  THEY BOUGHT US GIFTS TO THANK US.
Seriously.
They lost their house, their clothes, their baby toys, BOTH their cars…. everything!

But they thought WE deserved presents.
right….

Really, they are the best, and Sophia Rose is the most precious baby {not so baby anymore!}  girl. Here are some of my favorite shots of her one year photo session and her first birthday party.

Oliver Aaron : : 6 Months Old

Oliver’s Daddy (Aaron) and my husband have been friends since High School. When Brian and I got married, Aaron was yet to be attached, and we would spend a lot of time with him. He’s one of those people who is just a really.great.friend. Like, if you listed all the qualities of a great friend, Aaron has them all. A couple of summers ago we were planning a trip to San Marcos-ish and at the last minute, Aaron called and said “uh, I’m bringing this girl I just met”. What!? a GIRL!? Obviously, my crazy girl meter started buzzing. “who is this girl trying to get with OUR friend?!” But, when we met Kristen we immediately realized she was awesome and perfect for Aaron. By the next summer, they were married and had a baby on the way: Mr. Oliver Aaron. He’s freakin adorable, this kid. With a mom somewhere around 6 foot and a dad around 6’6″, he’s got a long way to grow but he’s working on it FAST!

Happy 6 Months, sweet Oli!
